Catherine Samuel Ballet School announces 2011 fall term classes for all ages in Ballet, Tap and Musical Theatre, including a pre-school class for 3-5 year olds, and adult classes for enjoyment and exercise. All classes are taught by Catherine Samuel. Students are prepared for Cecchetti Ballet examinations from first grade to professional grades for teaching careers.
Special attention is given to posture coordination, limbering, and rhythmical coordination of the mind and body. This helps prepare for healthy and graceful bodies to meet the discipline of a more strenuous training programme which begins after age nine.
The benefits of dance are not only physical. Children learn the element of discipline as he or she must be able to follow instructions and maintain concentration. Year end recitals allow the child to develop stage presence.
Many students have pursued professional careers in dance, being accepted into the National Ballet School and into post-secondary programs such as York University's BFA in Dance.
